Schoolgirl Needlework Samplers

Kathleen Littleton of Cross Stitch Antiques will give a lecture on samplers made by schoolgirls from the late 1700s through the late 1880s, from various countries. She will discuss in what settings and for what purposes these samplers were done, the development of motifs and patterns over the course of the years, and the lives of some of the girls who stitched them.
