Public Performance: CHALK
*The event has already taken place on this date: Sun, 01/07/2018
MOSH is partnering with Barbara Colaciello, Director and Producer of BABS’LAB, for a special presentation of poetic excerpts from CHALK.
A play written by nationally known poet and radio host Al Letson, CHALK reveals the inner voices of kids who are trapped in a society where bullying is tolerated in schools, on social media and in the work place. This performance brings awareness to verbal abuse and relational aggression through community engagement with the arts. The performance will follow a talk back and an improvised story share led by Colaciello, who facilitates workshops using improvisation as the tool.
This program is presented in conjunction with MOSH’s current traveling exhibition, Choosing to Participate, which was developed by the Smithsonian Institution Traveling Exhibition Service (SITES) and the educational organization, Facing History and Ourselves. Choosing to Participate encourages students and visitors to create positive social change by being up-standers, rather than bystanders, when faced with bullying, racism and other forms of injustice and exclusion.
