The Primary Choir curriculum is designed to prepare Kindergarten and first-grade children to become musical in three ways:
1. Melodic – to have melodies in their heads and learn to coordinate their voices to sing those melodies.
2. Rhythmic – to feel the beat and its divisions and how that beat is grouped in either 2s or 3s.
3. Artistic – to be moved by music in the many ways music can elicit an emotional response.
Like the Training Choir, the Primary Choir is semester-based, with 10-week sessions in fall and spring. Each year, participating singers receive 24-30 hours of instruction and perform a brief concert twice a year.
Auditions are not required. Need-based scholarships are available. Space is limited.
