During the heat of the Cold War, the United States and the Soviet Union initiated and vigorously participated in what we know as the “Space Race.” The race cooled off as the Soviet Union collapsed and manned missions since then have primarily focused on International Space Station at low Earth orbit. Lately, the interest in the space has picked up again with the advent of private enterprises such as SpaceX and Blue Origin who are interested in taking humans back for deep space explorations.
