Jacksonville Zoo and Botanical Gardens

Voed No. 4 Best Zoo in the Country by USA TODAY, Jacksonville Zoo and Botanical Gardens is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that has inspired the discovery and appreciation of wildlife through innovative experiences for over 100 years. Starting in 1914 with an animal collection of one red deer fawn, the Zoo is now home to more than more than 2,000 animals and 1,000 plant species. Animal wellness remains at the forefront of care and habitat design, as seen in exhibits such as Primate Forest and Land of the Tiger. The new J. Wayne and Delores Barr Weaver Manatee River habitat is now open, and brings together conservation, education and guest experience in one dynamic setting. At 330,000 gallons, Manatee River is now Florida’s largest critical care center for manatee rehabilitation, tripling the Zoo’s capacity to rescue, rehabilitate and release these beloved animals back into the wild. The Zoo is also committed to supporting the protection of threatened and endangered species with a portion of every ticket and membership supporting over 35 conservation initiatives locally and around the world. The Zoo is proud to be an accredited member of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums. For more information, visit jacksonvillezoo.org.
