February - Black History Month - Baking History

*The event has already taken place on this date: Wed, 02/26/2020
"I felt like a blackberry in a pail of milk" was the way Harriet Tubman described her feeling after bidding for, and buying, land in New York. Coming from that we will bake blackberry & cream biscuits in a class about Tubman, while trying to grasp what it felt like to only be able to look at milk and sugar, but never taste them.

February classes will be dedicated to African-American history. The depth of darkness of some of the topics is beyond what the heart can grasp, let alone a heart of a child. The classes about slavery will focus on introducing the heroic figures and directing the kids to books. We will have on hand age-appropriate books for them borrow  February 5 - 26, 2020.
