He is also a former AZA Professional Fellow.

Prior to his first job as a zookeeper at the Audubon Zoo in New Orleans, he spent a year working at Dian Fossey’s remote mountain gorilla research center in Rwanda, Africa.

He would later appear in the pages of Fossey’s GORILLAS IN THE MIST as well as Farley Mowat’s WOMAN IN THE MISTS, but he has always had a story of his own.

His new book, A FOREST IN THE CLOUDS, is the only first-person account from inside the fascinating world of Dian Fossey’s remote mountain gorilla camp, telling the often shocking story of life inside her facility, alongside adventures tracking mountain gorillas amid herds of forest buffalo and elephants, and rehabilitating an orphaned baby gorilla.

Copies of Fowler's book, A Forest in the Clouds: My Year Among the Mountain Gorillas, will be available for purchase and guests will have the opportunity to have it signed.
